voronn-2017-5The spring semester of the University Dance Forum begins on Monday January 9th! The first two weeks are free trial weeks for anyone who wants to come and try out dancing, so we encourage you all to grab the opportunity! We offer dance courses in blues, lindy hop, salsa (in collaboration with Salsa Iceland), swing&rock’n’roll and west coast swing. In addition we offer for the first time a course in hula-hoop dancing, in collaboration with Húlladúllan!

It’s easy to start learning to dance! To come to our dance courses you don’t need to know any dancing, you don’t need to bring a dance partner and you don’t even need to be a university student, for we welcome everyone!

The annual fee is a mere 7,000 ISK for students (10,000 ISK for others). This gives access to all University Dance Forum courses, along with discounts to balls, weekend workshops and other events hosted by us. The semester starts on January 9th and lasts for twelve weeks, or until the end of March.

Instructors this semester will be:

  • Blues (beginner): Serena and Steve
  • Hula hoop: Unnur María “Húlladúlla”
  • Lindy hop (beginner): Harpa and Magnús
  • Lindy hop (intermediate): Magnús and Ola
  • Salsa (beginners and intermediate): Besim and Rebekka
  • Swing & rock’n’roll (beginner): Haukur and Sigurbjörg
  • Swing & rock’n’roll (intermediate): Bergdís and Pétur
  • West coast swing (beginner): Amanda and Dino

Dance classes will be at Laugardalshöll on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; University of Iceland gym on Tuesdays (a more detailed schedule will be posted later). In addition, weekly social dance nights for all dances take place on various dance floors downtown, and will be advertised both in classes and here on Facebook.

More information about the dances can be found through the navigation menu above. We are also happy to answer any questions, either through our Facebook page or via email at haskoladansinn@haskoladansinn.is. Looking forward to seeing all of you in dance classes (bring your friends)!
