We are hosting a beginner’s class in Lindy Hop! The class will be on Wednesdays from 18:00-19:00 (starting September 17th) on the 4th floor of Tunglið Veislusalur (Lækjargata 2). There will also be a social following the class at 20:10-22:00 every Wednesday (part of our Double Decker Swing Social!) so you can practice the moves you just learned
.
Lindy Hop is the original swing dance and developed in the US in the 1930/40’s, though you can find Lindy Hop communities all over the world. It is a fun, high energy dance that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It is danced to music from the Golden Age of Jazz. We are teaming up with Sveiflustodin to teach this introductory class in Lindy Hop.
Our teachers for Lindy Hop are Magnús and Alyssa! Magnús has many years of experience both teaching and playing Lindy Hop music (his band Fjaðrafok will be play live music at many of the dance nights!). And Alyssa has been a member of Háskóladansinn who is stepping into her first teaching role with us. The first class of Lindy Hop is free (and no registration needed), so we hope to see you there on September 17th!
